Have you ever thought what in the heck does Jägermeister mean in German? What it means with literal translation is "hunt-master". Another, possible translation might be "gamekeeper".  Hence the reason for its logo, which shows the head of a stag with a glowing Christian cross between its antlers. Its logo is a reference to the stories of Saint Hubertus and Saint Eustace, both patron saints of hunters!

Jägermeister is a type of liqueur called Kräuterlikör or herbal liqueur. Its ingredients include 56 herbs, fruits, roots and spices including citrus peel, licorice, anise, poppy seeds, saffron, ginger, juniper berries, and ginseng. These ingredients are ground and steeped in water and alcohol for 2–3 days. Afterwards, it is filtered and stored in oak barrels for about a year. After a year, it is filtered again and mixed with sugar, caramel, alcohol, and water. Before it is bottled, it is filtered one last time.

Did you know that Jägermeister was originally developed as a digestif and as a cough remedy?  Yes, it was and in Germany they joke about it by calling it - Leberkleister which means "liver glue”.  And contrary to an urban belief, Jägermeister does not contain deer or elk blood.

Jägermeister is best to be kept on ice and served cold and should be kept in a freezer at 0°F or on tap between −5°F to 12°F.
